Proper disposal of needles and other sharps is essential for maintaining a safe and clean community. The American Canyon Fire Protection District encourages residents to dispose of their used needles responsibly to prevent injury and environmental contamination.

Where to Drop Off Needles

Residents can safely dispose of needles, syringes, and other sharps at the Napa-Vallejo Household Hazardous Waste Collection Facility:

Every Friday & Saturday from 9:00 AM – 4:00 PM 

Important Guidelines for Safe Disposal

  • Always place used needles and sharps in a puncture-resistant container with a secure lid. 
  • Do not dispose of needles in regular trash, recycling bins, or flush them down the toilet. 
  • Bring the sealed container to the drop-off facility during operating hours.

How to Dispose of Prescription Medications

Residents can drop off their unwanted prescription medications at the Public Safety Facility:

Monday – Friday, 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM (excluding holidays) 

Disposal Guidelines

  • Place loose pills inside a sealed plastic bag before dropping them off. 
  • No liquids or sharp objects are allowed. 
  • Drop the sealed bag into the designated collection bin in the facility lobby.
