The American Canyon Fire Protection District serves the entire American Canyon community. We serve our citizens and residential neighborhoods, individuals employed by our local businesses, and recreational visitors to our parks, trails and open spaces.

We are committed to our community, and to providing exceptional customer service. Our mission is to provide reliable and progressive emergency response while seeking opportunities to make a positive difference in the lives of the people and the community we serve. Chief Geoff Belyea

 

Fire Chief Geoff Belyea brings over 28 years of distinguished experience in fire service and emergency medical response, spanning state, county, and special district fire protection agencies. Since his appointment as Fire Chief of the American Canyon Fire Protection District in July 2022, Chief Belyea has led the district with a strong commitment to Public Safety, Operational Excellence, and Community Risk Reduction.  

Beyond his leadership in American Canyon, Chief Belyea is deeply engaged in shaping fire service policy and advocacy across California. He serves as a Zone 1 Director and the Deputy Director of Legislation for the Fire Districts Association of California (FDAC), where he plays a pivotal role in advancing legislative initiatives that strengthen fire protection services statewide. Additionally, he is a Board Member for the Napa Firewise Community Foundation, supporting wildfire prevention and preparedness efforts, and an advisory member of the Napa Valley College Paramedic Program, contributing to the development of the next generation of EMS professionals. He also serves as Secretary/Treasurer of the Napa County Fire Chiefs Association, fostering strong collaboration among fire agencies in the region.  

Chief Belyea holds an Associate of Science in Fire Science and a Bachelor of Science in Emergency Management from Union Institute & University. His extensive background, leadership, and dedication to fire service advocacy continue to enhance emergency response and community safety across Napa County and beyond.

Personnel Complaint Form

The American Canyon Fire Protection District is committed to maintaining the highest standards of professionalism, integrity, and service to our community. We value feedback and take all concerns regarding our personnel seriously. If you have a complaint regarding the conduct or performance of a District employee, we encourage you to submit a Personnel Complaint Form. 

All complaints will be courteously accepted by any District member and forwarded to the appropriate supervisor. All complaints will be reviewed and addressed in accordance with District policies and applicable laws. Verbal complaints are accepted and may be documented by staff for follow-up. While written complaints are preferred, they are not required. In-person submissions are encouraged, when possible, for documentation and evidence collection.

To submit a personnel complaint via email (mbanuelos@amcanfire.com), mail or in person (American Canyon Fire Protection District, 911 Donaldson Way E., American Canyon, CA 94503), please include the following:  

  • Your name, title (if applicable), email, phone number, and address 
  • Name and title (if known) of the employee involved 
  • Location, date, and time of the incident 
  • A detailed description of the incident, including any witnesses 
  • Any actions taken before filing the complaint 
  • Your desired outcome or resolution 



What to Expect:

  • Your complaint will be acknowledged and reviewed promptly. 
  • A designated representative will follow up with you regarding the next steps. 
  • Investigations will be conducted in a fair and impartial manner.
  • Complaints may be submitted anonymously; however, providing contact information allows us to follow up and provide resolution details.
